The MLS Cup final is scheduled to take place this weekend and we now know which teams will be playing for the cup. The NY Red Bulls and LA Galaxy won their conference finals by the slimmest of margins.

But who are the best fantasy football players you need for your teams? Which players have had the best seasons and will they bring the same quality when the cup is on the line?

I’ve crunched the numbers and reviewed the FootballCoin stats and want you to consider a few names when putting together your fantasy football team.

NY Red Bulls fantasy football tips

The NY Red Bulls are in the MLS final. You’re right to call this a surprise! Well-financed and with a strong squad, the NYC team only finished seventh in the Eastern Conference.

However, the team came to life in the playoffs. Wins against Columbus, NYCFC and Orlando City got them to the final. The victory in the semifinals came with the shortest of margins. Andres Reyes scored the winning goal.

Which NY Red Bulls players do you need on your fantasy football team for the finals?

Emil Forsberg: The Swede is the team’s captain and undisputed star. The transition to MLS was made easier by the fact that Forsberg previously played for RB Leipzig, a team that was under the same owners. Forsberg had a respectable first season in the United States, scoring nine goals and providing four assists.

Dante Vanzeir: The Belgian striker is the NY Red Bulls’ best fantasy football player, according to FootballCoin stats. He has scored 649 points this season with 4 goals and 9 assists.

Lewis Morgan: He was the player most often tasked with finding the back of the net. He did this 13 times and also added 5 assists to his tally. The 29-year-old will be difficult to stop in the MLS final.

LA Galaxy Fantasy Football Tips

In contrast, LAFC’s stock has been significantly higher all season. The team tied with LAFC for first place in the Western Conference.

In the semifinals they then beat Colorado Rapids and Minnesota United. Then, in the conference finals, LA Galaxy edged Orlando City, with Dejan Joveljić once again the team’s hero.

John McCarthy: LA Galaxy plays in a robust 4-3-3. But it is goalkeeper John McCarthy who is responsible for many of the team’s best results. McCarthy saved a penalty in the conference finals and has a 74.4% save percentage on the season.

Joseph Paintsil: The midfielder is LA Galaxy’s best fantasy football player according to FootballCoin stats. The Ghanaian player scored 1299 points in a season in which he scored 10 goals and 7 assists.

Riqui Puig: Former FC Barcelona prodigy Puig has developed into one of the best players in MLS. Puig provided the assist in the conference finals. And he had a great season, scoring 14 goals and assisting nine more goals.
