EFL Championship Fantasy football is always entertaining and always challenging. As we head into the new year and the second half of the season, it’s time to dig deep into the stats and figure out what worked and who did the best job. I look at the best fantasy football players in the Championship.

10. Josh Brownhill (Burnley) – 398 points in FootballCoin

Yes, Burnley were of course one of the favorites at the start of the EFL Championship. But it is one of the most difficult competitions in all of football and the team should be happy to be in second place in the table in the new year.

Josh Brownhill is the team’s top scorer this season, scoring nine times. The 29-year-old midfielder is eyeing a return to the EPL, as are his teammates.

8. Thomas Kaminski (Luton Town) – 401 points

Thomas Kaminski was quite impressive in the Premier League last season, despite Luton sinking in the standings. Good performances are what he was able to take a step down. Luton Town are still struggling and approaching dangerous relegation territory, but the Belgian goalkeeper is in good form. Would Kaminski follow the team into the first division? Don’t hold your breath for this!

7. Paul Nardi (Queens Park Rangers) – 412 points

6. Jamie Cumming (Oxford United) – 416 points

5.Aynsley Pears (Blackburn) – 435 points

4. Michael Cooper (Sheffield United) – 445 points

3. James Trafford (Burnley) – 446 points

Teams simply can’t find a way past James Trafford this season. Although it sometimes seems as if the goalkeeper should represent a top team, that could soon become true. Burnley have only conceded 9 goals in 26 games. If the defensive record remains this way in 2025, things are looking up for Trafford and the club.

2. Borja Sainz – (Norwich City) – 487 points

Sainz is one of the undisputed stars of the EFL Championship. Although it is unlikely that the Canaries will be able to keep the talented striker for too long, the Spaniard is working hard to give the team a chance of promotion. At the moment Norwich are stuck in mid-table. but Sainz is the league’s top scorer. His 15 goals make him one of fantasy football’s top picks for the Championship and keep Norwich in contention.

1. Viktor Johansson (Stoke City) – 553 points in FootballCoin in 2024

Viktor Johansson was the top fantasy football pick this championship season. It is remarkable that a goalkeeper scores so many points. But it’s even more remarkable when you consider that Stoke City haven’t had a great season.

The Swede achieved this by making the most saves in the entire league and having the lowest expected goals conceded coefficient by a goalkeeper. Stoke don’t seem ready to move anywhere in the 2024/25 season, but Johansson certainly should.
